What is garaging address?

A garaging address is the location where a vehicle is usually kept when it is not being driven.

Also called: vehicle garaging location

Glossary date: April 27, 2026

How it works

It may differ from a mailing address. Insurers use location information when evaluating risk and calculating premium.

Example

A customer receives mail at a family home but keeps the car most nights at an apartment in another city. The apartment is the garaging address.

Why it matters

An inaccurate address can produce the wrong price and create underwriting or claim questions.

What to check on your policy

Update the insurer after moving or when the vehicle begins staying somewhere else most of the time.
